Atlanta’s 2027 Fourth of July fireworks have not been announced. Fireworks at home

All consumer fireworks, including firecrackers, skyrockets and sparklers, have been legal in Georgia since July 1, 2015, according to the state’s Safety Fire Commissioner. The commissioner’s office says to ask your local police or fire department about the rules where you live. Its safety advice:

  • Read the label and follow the directions for each firework.
  • Light fireworks a safe distance from people and anything that can burn.
  • Never relight or pick up a firework that failed to go off.
  • Keep a garden hose or a bucket of water nearby.
  • Do not use fireworks when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  • If you are not comfortable lighting your own, go to a public show.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission counted 11 deaths and 14,700 injuries from fireworks in 2024, the commissioner’s office said.
