Dragon Con and the parade

Dragon Con bills itself as the place to be on Labor Day weekend. Its parade starts at 10 a.m. on the Saturday of the weekend on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta, with costumed fans, groups and floats. Dragon Con is already selling 2027 memberships.   • Atlanta Public Schools: Labor Day was a holiday for students and teachers in 2026, Monday, Sept. 7 (APS calendar).
  • Trash and recycling: the city’s 2026 holiday schedule listed a one-day delay for Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, 2026. The 2027 schedule had not been posted (Public Works); call 311 with questions.
  • MARTA: on Labor Day 2026, MARTA’s notice said buses and the Atlanta Streetcar ran Saturday schedules and trains ran Saturday schedules starting about 6 a.m. Customer Service was closed; the Customer Information Center was open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MARTA holiday schedule).
