The Georgia-Florida football game is in Atlanta for the first time. No. 3 Georgia plays No. 17 Florida at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The game is live on ABC.

The rivalry has been played in Jacksonville, Florida, almost every year since 1933. It moved because EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville is being renovated, Georgia’s game notes say. The game goes to Tampa, Florida, in 2027.

Why Florida faces a road-like game

The game is played on a neutral field, but it is not a neutral weekend. The game’s official name this year is the Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic. Georgia is the designated home team, its game notes say.

So Florida plays as the visiting team, in Georgia’s home state. Georgia’s notes put the capacity in Atlanta at 75,000.

The matchup

Both teams are coming off an open date. The records and rankings below are from Georgia’s game notes.

Georgia Florida
Record 6-1, 4-1 SEC 5-2, 3-2 SEC
Ranking (AP) No. 3 No. 17
Points per game 43.0 39.6
Points allowed per game 15.9 28.3

Georgia leads the all-time series 58-44-2 and has won the last five meetings. Last year Georgia won 24-20 in Jacksonville on Nov. 1, 2025. Georgia’s only loss this season was 27-24 at home to Auburn.

The two schools first met in 1904 in Macon, a 52-0 Georgia win, according to the notes.

Getting there and getting in

The stadium’s event page for the game carries these details.

MARTA. The stadium recommends MARTA. Use SEC District Station, formerly GWCC/CNN Center Station, at $2.50 each way.

Parking. The stadium says there are more than 20,000 parking spots within a 20-minute walk. Lots often sell out before big events, so buy ahead at the stadium’s parking site.

Rideshare. There are two pickup and drop-off zones, each about a 10-minute walk from the stadium:

  • Zone 1: GWCC Bus Lane C on Northside Drive, best for fans leaving by Gate 1 and heading north
  • Zone 2: Broad Street between Trinity Avenue and Mitchell Street, best for Gates 2 to 4 and for the airport, I-20 and I-75/85

If rideshare waits run long, the stadium points fans to Vine City Station from Zone 1 or Garnett Station from Zone 2.

Bags. The stadium asks fans to bring no bag. If you need one, these are allowed:

  • a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches
  • a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag
  • a small bag up to 4.5 by 6.5 inches, carried with a clear bag

Paid bag storage trucks are on the Northside Drive sidewalk near the Gate 1 box office and outside Gate 2 on Andrew Young International Boulevard.

Gates. Any gate works for most fans. Fans with floor seats must use the floor entry line near Gate 1.

What it means for you

Downtown will be busy most of Saturday afternoon and evening. It is also Halloween, so families heading out after dark should check the city’s trick-or-treat hours.

The stadium is busy again Sunday. Atlanta United plays Toronto FC there at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, according to the stadium’s events calendar.

Georgia Athletics sends fans to SeatGeek for tickets from its football schedule page.

The city had not published game-day road closures by Monday. We will add them here when it does. Our road closures page lists current work around the city.
