Kamala Harris and Sen. Jon Ossoff hold a Democratic canvass at Clark Atlanta's student center 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Early voting ends Friday, Oct. 30.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris and U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff will speak to volunteers at Clark Atlanta University on Thursday afternoon. The event is a canvass launch, not a rally. After the speeches, volunteers head out to knock on doors.

The Democratic Party of Georgia lists the “Campus Day of Action at AUC” on its Mobilize event page. It runs from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Cornelius L. Henderson Student Center, 223 James P. Brawley Drive SW, in the Atlanta University Center.

Sign-up is open on the party’s page. The listing says no experience is needed and training is provided. It asks volunteers to dress for the weather and bring a charged cellphone.

Macon first

Harris starts the day in Macon, about 80 miles southeast. The party lists a canvass launch with Harris in Macon from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Its address is given only to people who sign up.

The race

Ossoff, a Democrat, is seeking a second term. His Republican opponent is U.S. Rep. Mike Collins, who represents Georgia’s 10th Congressional District. The two met in their last debate on Oct. 13; read where they stood on prices, Iran, abortion and guns.
