The state counted 1,063 students at South Atlanta High in its 2025 School Grades data. The most recent federal figure, from the NCES directory for the 2023-24 school year, is 907 students and 61 full-time-equivalent teachers, about 14.9 students per teacher.

State report card

South Atlanta High’s 2025 CCRPI single score was 60.3, according to the state’s School Grades data. The Georgia average for high schools was 76.9 and Atlanta Public Schools’ was 73.9. CCRPI is the Georgia Department of Education’s “comprehensive school improvement, accountability, and communication platform,” according to GaDOE. The four-year graduation rate was 86.5% for 2025, against 87.2% statewide and 90.5% for Atlanta Public Schools, according to the same data.

Attendance zone

Zones are drawn by Atlanta Public Schools, so a neighborhood name or mailing address does not settle which school a home is zoned for. Check the address with the APS School Zone Locator; the district’s zone map for South Atlanta High shows the school’s boundary.

South Atlanta High’s middle school is Long Middle, which draws from Cleveland Avenue Elementary, Dobbs Elementary, Heritage Academy, Humphries Elementary and Hutchinson Elementary, according to the district’s feeder pattern list.

In December 2025 the Atlanta Board of Education approved Phase 1 of APS Forward 2040, the district’s long-range facilities plan, which closes six schools in fall 2027, according to the district. In this cluster, Cleveland Avenue Elementary is among the schools the plan affects. APS has not yet adopted the new zones: draft maps are on the APS Forward 2040 page and a board vote is planned for Monday, Dec. 7. We found no approved rezoning that changes South Atlanta High’s own zone so far.
